Its is believed he was in some kind of lumber business but not 100% sure of
that. Any way the story was told, he went bankrupt and fled the country
coming to the us in 1871. Upon doing so he changed his name to Spencer
Barrow. (which I believe must have been a family name.) They had four
children who came with them. They had only been in the US seven months
when Sarah died. She is burried in Edgewater, New Jersey.
